Cadets Blank Clovers on Homecoming

Cadets took the field Friday Night in front of the Homecoming crowd vs Cloverdale. Cascade would win the toss and elect to defer to the 2nd half. Cascade dominated in all three phases of the game Friday night vs the Clovers. It started with the Cascade defense giving up -4 total yards of offense, and finished with the offense having 485 yards total. Cascade would give up 28 positive yards to the Clovers through the air all night. The Cadets would force 7 three and outs throughout the night. On the opening series of the night, Cadets would force their first three and out and three plays later the SO Toby Savini would find the end zone for their first score of the night from 34 yards out. SO Dayton Mink would finish it off in the end zone giving the Cadets a 7-0 lead for his first touchdown of the night. Cascade would force their first, three and out after FR Wyatt Minardo came up with his first career sack. The Cascade offense would go on a 8 play drive capping off with a 13 yard run by Damein Appleby. SO Toby Savini on the next offensive possession took a toss down the home sidelines for 64 yards extending the lead 20-0 at the end of the first half. Cascade would open up the second quarter with the football in Cloverdale territory after a shanked punt. Just one play into the series SO Brady Trebley would connect with FR Trent Austin for a 28 yard touchdown catch to extend the lead 27-0. On the very next series for defense, SR Jackson Cornelius would come up with a fumbled snap by the Clovers offense, setting Cascade up at the 11 yard line. SO Brady Trebley would play action pass and find SO Toby Savini in the end zone for an 11 yard touchdown strike pushing the lead 34-0. After two 15 yard penalties by the Cadets on the kickoff and first play of defense, Clovers would find themselves in Cascade territory for the first time in the night. But SR Damien Appleby would shut that down intercepting a pass from the Cloverdale quarterback.Two plays later, SR Damien Appleby would take a run 64 yards to paydirt to expand the lead 41-0. Cascade would rattle off 42 points in the second quarter taking a 62-0 lead going into halftime. To start the second half of the game, Cascade would pull all starters out, but on the kickoff return, the stadium would lose a section of their lights. Cloverdale would elect to run the clock as both teams waited out the light problem. It would take the entire 3rd quarter up to get the lights back on. Cascade would start the 4th quarter with the ball and the lights shining. They would go on a 9 play 54 yard drive with JR Tyler Hege finding the end zone to push the lead to 68 points. As the running clock stayed on the entire second half, the Cascade defense would finish the game strong and hold the shut out for their first of the season. Cascade would break a record Friday Night with the most points scoring in a two game stretch with 131 total points. The previous record was set back in 2006 when they scored 111 points, ironically both versus Edgewood and Cloverdale.
