The Lady Cadets (0-8, 0-3 Monon) hosted the Danville Lady Warriors last night for their second game of this four game homestand. Both teams return to the pitch after playing home games on Monday night. The Cadets are coming off a disappointing second half stall to Covington while Danville dominated in their win over the Lady Bulldogs of Monrovia. Given the close proximity of the two schools, they have been playing each other since Cascade’s first Varsity season in 2004. Danville has a clear advantage in the win column in the just over 20 year rivalry with Cascade’s only win a 7-6 shootout back in 2014. This season, the Lady Warriors (8-2) are having another strong season and will be a contender for the Sectional 27 championship hosted by Cascade in three weeks. The intense heat of the afternoon threatened whether or not the game would get started on schedule. After a small rain shower, the temperature readings dropped just under the allowed limit and the game was able to start at its 5:30 p.m. schedule. Danville used their more organized offensive pace and dominated control of the ball for most of the first half. Despite outshooting the Lady Cadets 9-1 in the opening minutes of the first half, the Lady Warriors never got the ball into the back of the net, in part because the Cadets’ defense put together another good half. The game would be delayed by dangerous weather with 15:15 remaining in the first half and both teams would have to wait through a 90 minute weather delay before the game would restart at 7:45 p.m. Once the teams retook the field, Danville was able to score two goals before halftime and take a 2-0 lead. As the second half proceeded, Danville would score goals off of Cascade turnovers on failed restarts that sealed the game for the Lady Warriors. Danville added three goals in the second half for a 5-0 victory over Cascade. The 5-0 loss for the Cadets drops their season record down to 0-9. The Lady Trojans’ victory improves their record to 9-2. The next scheduled game for the Lady Warriors will be at Decatur Central on Saturday, September 19th. The Lady Cadets will return back to their Monon Conference schedule on Saturday morning when they host the Lady Hot Dogs from Frankfort High School as part of a boy/girl doubleheader. The start time for the girls game on Saturday morning will be 10:00 a.m. and the boys game should start around 12:00 p.m. Game Summary 1H 2H Final Cascade 0 0 0 Danville 2 3 5
