Cascade High School Athletics

The Lady Cadets hosted the Lady Stars of Western Boone last night as part of the IHSAA Sectional 27 competition. Western Boone and Cascade were scheduled to play the third game of the sectional immediately after the Tri-West and Southmont game. The Lady Cadets and Lady Stars played each other back in mid-August and the two teams have changed and improved dramatically since that early season game. This is the first year with these two teams aligned in the same sectional competition. The cool autumn air, familiar opponents, and playing on their home turf made last night’s game between Cascade and Western Boone a very comfortable game to watch and enjoy. The Lady Stars dominated possession of the ball for most of the game and late injuries on the Lady Cadets roster did limit their offensive and defensive abilities. But when the Lady Cadets did have possession of the ball, they made the best of what opportunities they had and played one of their best games of the season. The Cadets defense held their place with the Stars for almost the whole first half last night and found some way to put pressure on the Stars defense with excellent clearance passes and movement that made Western Boone give up their offensive attack frequently. But the Cadets couldn’t stop Western Boone forever and two late goals in the first half game the Lady Stars some extra confidence and energy going into halftime. The second half would play out much like the first half in the pace of play but the fans and coaches could see an effort of desperation in the Lady Cadets that really kept Western Boone on the defensive foot. The Cadets managed to get three excellent shots on goal in the second half but they could never get one to score. The exhausted Cadets gave everything they could in talent and effort but failed again to score. The Lady Stars won an exciting game 2-0 and move on in the IHSAA tournament. The 2-0 loss for the Cadets ends their 2026-2027 season. The team ended the season with a team record of 1-14. The Lady Stars move (4-8-1) onto the semifinals of the Sectional 27 competition and will face the Tri-West Lady Bruins (16-1) on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. The nine seniors of the Lady Cadets Soccer team will be fondly remembered for their efforts and outstanding personalities. Five of the athletes, Sophia Adams, Evelyn Bolinger, Autumn Chattin, Cora Sprankle, and Olivia Whitaker played all four seasons. Game Summary 1H 2H Final Cascade 0 0 0 Western Boone 2 0 2
