Cadets show depth in win over Mooresville

The Cadet girls grabbed their second road win of the season with a 108-68 win over Mooresville on Tuesday night. The Cadets won 5 of the 12 events in the meet but outperformed the Pioneers in the rest of the scoring positions. The Cadets were led by Freshman Molly Goff who posted wins in both the 200 free and 500 free. Hailey Dunn added a win in the 100 backstroke while Courtney Shostrand won the diving event. The final Cadet win came from the 400 freestyle relay of Isabelle Vieting, Molly Goff, Hailey Dunn and Emma Phipps. The Cadets had several standout events that propelled them to the win. In the 200 free the Cadets finished 2nd and 3rd with McKenna Potters and Lilly Lanphier. In the 200 IM the Cadets posted 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes by Emma Phipps, Isabelle Vieting and Katianne Bolinger. Likewise in the 50 free the Cadets grabbed the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions with Madison Goff, Shaelyn Skidmore and Hailey Dunn. In addition the the win in the diving event the Cadets London Moore finished 2nd behind teammate Courtney Shostrand. The 100 fly saw more of the same with Emma Phipps posting a 2nd place finish with Katianne Bolinger and Gabby Angelides finishing 3rd and 5th. The 500 free was dominated by Molly Goff followed by a strong 2nd place finish from Lilly Lanphier and a 4th place finish by Hannah Smith. The Cadets went 1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke with Hailey Dunn, Gabby Angelides and McKenna Potters. The 100 breaststroke event had Shaelyn Skidmore battling for the win and being out touched by .66 of a second. The Cadets did exactly what they need to do to win the meet. Mooresville won several races, but the Cadets scored more points in each events with their finishes. Next up for the Cadets is a strong Plainfield Quaker team on November 29th at the Cascade natatorium.
