Cascade football is back in action Friday Night at home vs Northview Knights after continuing their historic start to the season. For the first time in school history, Cadets are 6-0 after a rout of North Putnam. Friday Night Cadets will honor their twelve senior football players pre-game. Cascade will greet 6-0 Northview for a Friday Night showdown on Senior Night. Mark Raetz is in his 18th year, while Connor Simmons is in his 6th. Both teams will look to assert their dominance on the ground attack. Northview: 65.84, 87th overall, 23rd in 4A. Statewide Polls Cascade Cadets are ranked #14 in 3A in the IFCA Coaches Poll & #14 in 3A in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Northview Knights are ranked #10 in 4A in the USA Today Coaches Poll & #10 in 4A in the AP Media Poll. RECAP OF WEEK #6 Cascade hosted 5-0 North Putnam and handed them the first loss of the season in a 56-21 route. Cadets rattled off 494 yards of offense led by JR Dayton Mink with 147 yards on the ground. Cadets defense swarmed and bottled up JR Christian Kramer and were able to force 3 turnovers. The defense held the high powered offense to 300 yards of offense and just 21 points. Northview hosted Terre Haute South. It was a battle to the end. Tied 28-28, Northview was able to drive down and kick a game winning field goal to beat the 5A school 31-28. In the game Northview was able to run for 320 yards on the ground and have another 140 yards through the air. Connor Simmons, 24-25 in his 5th season at Cascade, 27-31 overall in 6 seasons. Mark Raetz, 88-32 in his 12th season at Northview, 103-77 overall in 18 seasons. 2024 vs Common Opponents Sullivan (N: 35-0 / C:42-6) Edgewood (N: / C:42-0) Indian Creek (N: / C:21-18) Greencastle (N: 44-7 / C: ) Owen Valley (N: 35-0 / C: ) ALL-TIME RECORD This will be the 2nd meeting between Cascade and Northview. The lone game between the two schools was back in 2017 where the Cadets lost 56-14 to the Knights. SETTING THE SCENE Friday Night Cascade is back at home for Senior Night facing their second undefeated opponent in back to back weeks. Cascade will wear all black Friday Night. What’s at stake for both teams? Both teams enter the contest 6-0 and both are ranked in one of their respective classes polls. One team will leave Friday Night with their first loss of the season and the other will continue their undefeated regular season. Cascade will employ their heavy run wing-t offense and look to see how they fare against a sectional type opponent, while Northview will bring a power spread look and look to continue their success this season. Cadets are coming off back to back dominant performances over Sullivan and a 5-0 North Putnam team. Cascade uses a No-Huddle Wing-T attack on offense averaged 42 ppg and a 3-4 on defense only giving up 11.2 ppg. Cascade will have their hands full against a physical and confident Knights team that uses a power spread run game. The Cadets will need to play great defense and run the football in order to have success against the power spread attack of the Knights. Offense: Total Yards: 435.8 Yds/Game Pass Yards: 93.2 Yds/Game Rush Yards: 343 Yds/Game First Downs: 122 Yards Per Play: 8.3 JR Brady Trebley is under center for the Cadets. Trebley was 3-4 for 109 yards 3 touchdowns through the air and 57 yards 1 touchdown on the ground. On the season, Brady is 39-63 for 521 yards and sevens touchdowns and adds 335 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground. Trebley inches closer to breaking the 2,000 yard mark in his career and is just 10 touchdowns away from 3rd all time in school history. FR Luke Austin and FR Adrian Parsons will serve as the back-up quarterback for the Cadets. Cadets have a plethora of running backs that can carry the rock for their offense on Friday Nights and they all have an explosive step to them. JR Dayton Mink leads the team with 85 carries for 648 and 9 touchdowns on the season. SR Daemen Mason and SO Lucas Farmer have combined for 46 carries, 573 yards and 6 touchdowns. JR Toby Savini has averaged 10+ yards per carry since being back in the line-up adding 183 yards on the ground and 4 total touchdowns. JR Lucas Farmer leads the group with 14.8 yards per rush. This group has combined for 2,056 yards and 27 touchdowns on the ground. Wide receivers will continue to add in their hands to the pass attack this year. JR Marcus Hobson leads the group averaging 17 yards per reception. JR JT Roshong also has 15 catches for 100+ yards and 1 touchdown. The receivers saw limited action last Saturday with only 4 balls through the air, but they did the dirty work in blocking, allowing the backs to run for 285 on the ground. Tight ends will look to assert their dominance as an edge setter for the backfield. JR Braxton Lewis will serve as the number one tight end and continues to be a force in the blocking attack up front opening up the edge for the backs to run through. Lewis caught an 82 yard touchdown pass last week that saw him on a elusive run after the catch to break multiple tackles and found his way into the end zone. JR Royce Bright and SO Trent Austin will serve as his back-up. This group has played a significant role in the production of the 494 yards of offense against North Putnam front seven. Four Seniors will anchor the offensive line for Cascade. The offensive line averages in weight a combined 205lbs. SR Josiah Murrain, SR Bryce Hofing, SR Duncan White, and SR Owen Hargis will all look to be the aggressors upfront with the two full years of starting experience they bring to the table. Through six weeks, the No-Huddle Wing-T offense has 2,600 yards of offense. The offense is averaging 42 points per game. In week six, Cascade finished with 494 yards of offense making it their 5th straight game with 400+ yards. Most of the damage has come on the ground attack that averages 343 yards per game thanks to the 6 strong that sets the tone up front. Defense: Total Yards Against: 146 Yds/Game Pass Yards Against: 91 Yds/Game Rush Yards Against: 54 Yds/Game First Downs: 45 Yards Per Play Against: 3.7 The front three defensive lineman will look to assert their dominance against a strong rushing attack from the Knights. JR Brody Duncan leads the group with 19 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. JR Dominic Appleby has 16 tackles and 4 tackles for a loss on the season. SR Ducan White is second with 2.5 tackles for loss. SO Dillon Setty, SO Wyatt Minardo and SR Owen Hargis will serve as back-ups for this group. JR Braxton Lewis, JR Leland Walker, JR Dayton Mink and FR TJ Turner will get the start at the linebacker core. Week six was a standout performance from ILB Braxton Lewis wgo tallied 12 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 fumble forced and 2 tackles for a loss. He currently leads the team in tackles with 40 total. FR TJ Turner brings 34 tackles and 5 tackles for a loss. This group has the most depth on the team with Baynx Stirling becoming a huge rotational player. This will be the toughest test of the season as Northview runs a power spread offense. O Wyatt Minardo, SR Brady Thornburg and JR Baynx Stirling will serve as the rotational players for this group. The defensive backs will be looking to slow down an aerial attack that is heavy on the play action side. SO Safety Lucas Farmer is 2nd on the team lead in tackles with 36 total. JR JT Roshong has been a strong filler in the run game and has tallied 34 tackles. Sr Daemen Mason currently leads the team with 6 pass breakups. JR Brady Trebley, JR Toby Savini, and SR Tyler Hege will serve as rotational players for the evening. The secondary is giving up 91 yards through the air. SR Max Stucky continues to handle the kicking duties for the Cadets. Stucky is currently 34-35 on the season for PATs which comes out to 96% accuracy. Stucky moves into 3rd place all time in school history in PATs made in a season with 34 passing B Grable 28 (2018/2019) and J Parsley 28 (1999). SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS Northview is led by 12th year head coach Mark Raetz. The Knights are entering the game 6-0 for the first time since 2018. Northview will be led on offense by JR quarterback, Colton Bath. Bath is averaging 147 yards per game and 3 touchdowns per game. The JR is a dual-threat quarterback that has the ability to hurt you on the ground and through the air. SR Gage Thompson will lead the defense this week. Thompson leads the team in tackles with 28 total and 2 tackles for a loss. IHSAA SECTIONAL Cadets are up in 3A for the first time in school history competing in Sectional #29. Cascade is the lone 6-0 team in the sectional. Guerin Catholic and Speedway both sit at 3-3.
