For the Championship game of IHSAA Sectional 27, the Lady Cadets faced the Danvlle Lady Warriors. In past seasons, the Lady Warriors and Lady Cadets were in different Sectional competition but the most recent realignment placed the Hendricks county schools in the same 2A Sectional. Cascade and Danville had played each other many times in Girls Soccer with Danville having a commanding margin in victories over Cascade and this includes the 5-0 victory over Cascade earlier in the season. Both schools were looking to get back on the Sectional championship winning streak. Cascade and Danville won their last Girls Soccer Sectional title back in 2022. With these two teams playing earlier in the season, there were no unanticipated patterns of play. Everyone that had watched the Cadets knew that their best offensive rhythm could only be achieved when the ball was in possession against a slightly slower defensive line. Cascade wanted to use their speed to open up the field and hopefully get a couple of quality shots early on the Danville goal. The Lady Warriors had a well balanced team chemistry and liked to move the ball with sharp passing inside and outside. When the Lady Warriors got within the final third of the field, they liked to play a firm pass toward the goal that would be shot quickly into the net. had to be played through a couple of players. The determining factor would be whether or not the Cadet offense got through the Warriors’ defensive unit in the open field. Unfortunately for the Cadets, the Danville defense never fell apart and opened up to easily move the ball. Danville shut down almost every Cascade offensive movement. The frustrations for the Cadets turned ever more sour when Danville scored their first and then second goal about halfway through the first half and made a comeback seemingly insurmountable. The emotionally breaking goal in the game came when near the end of the first half, a Danville striker out hustled the Cascade defense for the third goal of the first half. The Cadets never returned from that third goal and a 3-0 deficit at halftime. Once the Lady Warriors scored their fifth goal of the game with about 28:15 remaining in the second half, the IHSAA running clock kicked in and the game quickly ended with a 5-0 win for the Lady Warriors and their first Sectional Championship since 2022. The 5-0 loss for Cascade ends their season with a record of 7-8-2. The Lady Warriors’ season continues on as they are now scheduled to play the winner of Sectional 28 Championship game between Roncalli and Speedway. The disappointing loss was the last game for an extremely large class of Senior athletes: Ava Allen, Anna Burns, Amber Culp, Trinity Reitzel, Alexa Rodriguez, Caitlyn Russell, and Taylor Trusty, Game Summary Cascade 0 Danville 5 Goals/Assists:
