The Lady Cadets (1-8, 1-3 Monon) are about halfway through their arduous road schedule this season and tonight’s opponent is the Danville Lady Warriors (4-6-1). The Lady Cadets and Lady Warriors have been on each others’ schedule for some years now and the alternating home/home schedule means that the Cascade boys are hosting the Danville boys team tonight. The last IHSAA realignment moved these Hendricks Country rivals into the same sectional last season (2A #27) but the Cadets are clearly trying to catch up with the Lady Warriors 2A success. Last season, the Danville Warriors defeated the Lady Cadets twice by the score of 5-0. The first game was during the regular season and the second meeting was in the championship game of Sectional 27. With the regular season starting to wind down and preparation for the IHSAA Sectional now moving to the forethought of the team, the Lady Cadets looked forward to the game with Danville as a potential Sectional 27 opponent. The Lady Warriors were the class of the sectional last season and this season had shown that many teams could possibly challenge for the championship. As Cascade compared their other games against Sectional 27 opponents, the Lady Cadets were hoping the team’s effort and strategies for the game would resemble Edgewood (1-0 loss) and not the struggles against West Vigo (6-0 loss). Sadly, the game against Danville would be the most dominating performance the Cadets had faced against a sectional opponent yet and the Lady Warriors easily won 7-0. By scoring five goals in the first half, the Danville coaching staff found plenty of time to play many of their JV players for well over 50 minutes in the game. This extended lifeline for the Lady Cadets allowed the team to continually work on building confidence with the ball and gaining some offensive rhythm throughout the second half. The final score of the game was 7-0 and it could have been much worse. But the Lady Cadets did get a full game’s opportunity to keep practicing those needed skills for their upcoming conference game with Frankfort on Saturday morning. The 7-2 loss Cadets drops their record down to 1-9 (1-4 Monon). The Lady Warriors improved their record up to 5-6-1 with the victory against the Cadets. The Lady Warriors will play next on September 22nd when they host the Lady Tigers of Lebanon. The Cadets jump right back on the bus for their next game on Saturday, September 20th when they travel for a Monon Conference game at Frankfort (2-11, 1-3 Monon). The game at Frankfort will start at 10:00 a.m. Game Summary 1H 2H Final Cascade 0 0 0 Danville 5 2 7 Goals/Assists:
