The Lady Cadets (1-9, 1-3 Monon) traveled up to Frankfort for a Monon Conference game on Saturday morning. The Lady Cadets and Lady Hot Dogs have not played each other the past couple of seasons but with the two schools joining the newly created Monon Conference, they will have plenty of chances to learn about each other. Frankfort is assigned to 2A Sectional 25 along with Lebanon, Crawfordsville, Western Boone, North Montgomery, and Tri-West. With both teams struggling to score this season and not having much information to compare with, the start of the game between Cascade and Frankfort was a bit exciting. Both teams were looking to pick up their second conference win of the season and trying to build up some confidence as the season moves toward the sectional games. The Cadets scored the first goal of the game when Zayda Hofing received an excellent pass from Olivia Whitaker that put the Cadets up 1-0 just a couple of minutes into the game. This 1-0 lead didn’t last too long once the Lady Hot Dogs settled a wildly bouncing ball inside the Cadets penalty box and struck a strong shot into the corner of the goal. The halftime horn sounded with a tied score of 1-1 and both teams looking for a chance to pull out a much needed win. Once the second half started, the emotion of the game changed almost immediately when the Lady Hot Dogs slipped a ball past the Lady Cadets goalie a couple of minutes into the half and gave Frankfort a small lead at 2-1. Once the Cadets emotionally regrouped after the goal, they did build a couple of good offensive patterns and threatened to score three times in the next 20:00 to tie the game back up. Once again, Cascade was limited on chances of subbing fresh people in and out of the game and this caught up with the Cadets as the intensity of the game remained high. The Lady Cadets were physically exhausted in the last 15:00 minutes of the game and started to struggle with clearing the ball out of the Cadets defensive third. This struggle yielded one more goal for Frankfort late in the game making the final score 3-1. The Lady Cadets gave everything they could to try and win the game but the lack of subs and the team’s repeated struggle to build an offensive rhythm once again hindered the chances for a Cadets’ victory celebration. Frankfort won the game 3-1. The 3-1 loss Cadets drops the season record down to 1-10 and lowers the team’s conference record to 1-5 in the Monon. The Lady Hot Dogs improved their record to 3-11 in the season and moved ahead of the Cadets in the Monon conference standings (2-3). The Lady Hot Dogs will play next on September 24th when they host the Lady Tigers of Lebanon. The Cadets will jump on the bus for the final time when they travel on Monday to play the Lady Chargers of North Montgomery. This game will be the last Monon Conference game for both teams. The game at North Montgomery will start at 6:30 p.m. Game Summary 1H 2H Final Cascade 1 0 1 Frankfort 1 2 3 Goals/Assists: Zayda Hofing 1H 31:43 (1) A- Olivia Whitaker (1)
