SETTING THE SCENE Friday Night Lights return to Clayton as the Cadets host the Crawfordsville Athenians for a Week 6 showdown under the Homecoming spotlight. With a packed crowd and extra energy in the stands, this matchup carries added meaning as Cascade looks to keep building momentum in Monon Athletic Conference play. The Cadets enter the game riding a 14-game regular-season winning streak and are focused on continuing their strong start while defending their home turf. For Crawfordsville, it’s an opportunity to play spoiler, earn a signature win, and showcase the growth of their program in a homecoming environment. Cascade’s high-tempo, no-huddle Wing-T offense will look to set the tone early, wearing down the defense with a punishing ground game and quick-strike play-action looks. On the other side of the ball, the Cadets’ physical, aggressive defense will be tasked with slowing down Crawfordsville’s balanced attack and forcing mistakes. With the energy of Homecoming, conference standings at stake, and a packed stadium, this game promises to deliver a classic Friday night atmosphere as both teams battle to make a statement heading into the second half of the season and add a win in the Monon Athletic Conference. CADET NOTES For the second straight year, Cascade is off to a perfect 5-0 start, continuing to build on the success of last season. The Cadets opened the 2025 campaign with two statement victories, first taking down rival Monrovia in the Battle of I-70, then upsetting 4A #11 Danville, setting the tone with their trademark fast and physical style of play. Cascade returns home for a Week 6 Homecoming matchup against Crawfordsville. The Cadets enter the night riding a 14-game regular-season winning streak and will look to keep their momentum rolling in front of a packed home crowd. Crawfordsville, meanwhile, comes in hungry to play spoiler and take a big step forward in their program by knocking off one of the Monon Athletic Conference’s top teams. With Homecoming energy in the air and the conference race heating up, Cascade aims to stay focused, protect their home field, and continue proving they belong among the area’s elite programs. Offensively, Cascade brings in one of the top scoring offenses in the start averaging 54 points per game and a stout defense giving up 12 points per game. Cascade is coming off a 77 point outing and a shutout from the previous week. Senior quarterback Brady Trebley continues under center, commanding Cascade’s no-huddle Wing-T offense. Through week five of the season, he has been as efficient as the best of them in Indiana High School Football, Trebley has completed 54-75 for 817 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also has added 119 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns. Trebley is aiming to close out his Cadet career by chasing the top spot in career passing touchdowns, needing just 3 more to become Cascade’s all-time leader. Behind him, sophomore Luke Austin and freshman Mason Minner will provide depth in the quarterback room as the Cadets look toward the future. Brady Trebley Ranks in Career Passing History: Passing Yards (Career): 3rd (3,481) Passing TDs (Career): 2nd (51) Completions (Career): 3rd (207) Completion % (Career): 1st (64.0%) Cascade heads into Week 6 against Crawfordsville with a four-headed rushing attack that can strike on any play. Last week against Frankfort, the Cadets’ backfield exploded for 363 yards on just 30 carries, showing their balance and explosiveness. Senior Marcus Hobson will take the snaps at left wing, bringing veteran leadership and big-play ability. Toby Savini made the most of his touches, racking up 65 yards and a touchdown on just 3 carries. Hobson showcased his game-breaking speed with 57 yards and 2 touchdowns on 2 carries, while Dayton Mink powered his way to 77 yards and 2 scores on 5 carries. With multiple weapons capable of taking it the distance on any snap, this backfield will be a key factor as Cascade looks to wear down the 3A Crawfordsville and extend their regular-season and Monon winning streak. Career Rushing Ranks: Dayton Mink & Toby Savini Career Rushing Ranks: Rushing Yards: Savini 4th (2,533) / Mink 6th (2,319) Rushing Touchdowns: Savini 4th (28) / Mink 2nd (33) Yards Per Rush: Savini 1st (9.56) / Mink 5th (6.36) Career Scoring: Savini 1st (270) / Mink 4th (224) Cascade’s wide receiver group is deep and experienced this season, led by seniors Marcus Hobson, JT Roshong, and Delton Howrey, with junior Cooper Lievens adding additional depth. Heading into the Week 6 Homecoming matchup against Crawfordsville, the Cadets get a boost as senior Delton Howrey returns from injury. This group brings big-play potential to the edge of Cascade’s otherwise run-heavy offense, providing balance and the ability to stretch the field, a key factor as the Cadets look to keep defenses from loading the box against their powerful rushing attack. Last week against Frankfort, the wide receivers had a big night catching 4 passes for 45 yards and 1 touchdown. Cascade’s tight end group will continue to play a vital role in both the run and pass game, led by senior Braxton Lewis. Seniors Royce Bright and junior Trent Austin add quality depth, with all three bringing significant varsity experience dating back to their freshman seasons. Lewis is a physical force up front, consistently creating running lanes for Cascade’s explosive backfield while also serving as a reliable target in the passing game. In Week 4 against North Montgomery, Lewis hauled in two receptions for 35 yards, while Austin added one catch for 30 yards. Last week in the Week 5 matchup against Frankfort, Lewis caught one pass for 13 yards, showcasing his versatility. As the Cadets prepare for their Week 6 Homecoming game against Crawfordsville, look for this group to continue being a dominant presence in the run game while providing timely contributions through the air when needed. The Cadets’ offensive line has been a major driving force behind Cascade’s success early in the 2025 season, paving the way for an offense that is averaging 432 yards per game. In Week 5 against Frankfort, this unit delivered its most dominant performance yet, helping the Cadets rack up an impressive 474 total yards of offense. This year’s line features one senior, two juniors, and two sophomores, with only one returning starter from last season. Senior Brody Duncan provides leadership and stability up front, while juniors Wyatt Minardo and Dillon Setty hold down the tackle spots with toughness and consistency. Sophomore Eric Appleby starts at center, and sophomore Gunner White rounds out the group at left guard. Despite their youth, this line has quickly developed into a physical, cohesive unit, setting the tone for Cascade’s fast, run-heavy attack and giving their deep backfield room to thrive. Their continued growth will be key as the Cadets enter the heart of the conference schedule, starting with their Homecoming matchup against Crawfordsville. Cascade’s defensive front will look to control the line of scrimmage in their Week 6 Homecoming matchup against Crawfordsville. Senior Dominic Appleby returned as an experienced starter for his final season, while junior Wyatt Minardo and Jacob Healy anchored the interior with strength and consistency. This group has been the tone-setter for physicality, and last week against Frankfort, they turned in their most dominant performance of the season, holding the Hotdogs to just 11 total yards of offense. Senior Bentley McClellan returns from injury this week, adding depth and leadership to the unit, while junior Jacob Healy is coming off a breakout performance in his first start, recording six tackles. With momentum building, Cascade’s defensive line will aim to set the tone early, shut down Crawfordsville’s rushing attack, and keep the pressure high in front of a packed Homecoming crowd. Cascade’s most experienced defensive unit lines up at linebacker, where seniors Braxton Lewis, Toby Savini, and Baynx Stirling, along with sophomore TJ Turner, will get the start for the Week 6 Homecoming matchup against Crawfordsville. Junior Trent Austin will provide depth as the primary backup to the outside linebackers. This group brings a strong combination of leadership, toughness, and athleticism, making them a key component of Cascade’s defense. In Week 5 against Frankfort, Toby Savini led the way with 5 tackles and 1 tackle for loss, while Braxton Lewis added 4 tackles, helping the Cadets turn in a dominant performance in which they allowed only 11 total yards of offense. With the energy of a packed Homecoming crowd behind them, this linebacker unit will be critical in slowing down Crawfordsville’s offensive attack and setting the defensive tone early. Cascade’s secondary is led by seniors Marcus Hobson and JT Roshong, along with juniors Lucas Farmer and Michael Langley. After a tough Week 4 outing against North Montgomery, where they allowed over 200 passing yards, their highest total of the season, this group bounced back in a dominant Week 5 performance against Frankfort, holding the Hotdogs to zero passing yards. Heading into the Week 6 Homecoming matchup against Crawfordsville, the Cadets get a boost with junior Lucas Farmer returning to action, adding both depth and playmaking ability to the back end of the defense. With their experience and physical style, this secondary will look to attack downhill in run support and stay disciplined in coverage as they prepare to face a balanced Crawfordsville offense. With added depth and confidence, Cascade’s defensive backfield is ready to play a pivotal role as the Cadets push into the second half of the 2025 season. Junior Brogan Trump will continue the kicking duties for the Cadets. Trump is taking on first-year kicking opportunities while also playing soccer. Trump will handle all aspects of kicking Friday Night. For the season, Trump is 37-39 on the year and had a record breaking PAT game vs Frankfort converting 11 of 11 to break the PAT record in a single game (Previously held by Max Stucky, 2024). Trump averages 47 yards on his kickoffs. SR Gabriel Glaze and FR Max Stucky has both seen action as well on kickoffs the last two weeks. SCOUTING THE ATHENIANS Crawfordsville is led by 4th year Head Coach Brad Clark. He is 9-26 overall in his coaching career. Last week, Crawfordsville fell to Southmont 0-28. Athenians are still looking for their first victory in the new Monon Athletic Conference and will look to shut down one of the top scoring offenses / defenses in 3A. 2025 Schedule Week 0: @ Linton Week 1: Monrovia W 48-6 Week 2: @ Danville W 41-25 Week 3: @ North Putnam W 42-6 Week 4: North Montgomery W 63-26 Week 5: @ Frankfort W 77-0 Week 6: Crawfordsville (Homecoming) Week 7: @ Greencastle Week 8: Southmont (Senior Night) Week 9: @ Western Boone Week 10: Sectional Quarterfinal Week 11: Sectional Semifinal Week 12: IHSAA Sectional Championship Week 13: IHSAA Regional Championship Week 14: IHSAA Semi-State Championship Week 15: IHSAA State Championship VARSITY COACHING STAFF HEAD COACH Connor Simmons 6th year at Cascade with an overall record of 33-26 Simmons currently ranks 2nd in total wins in program history with 33 and inched closer to All Time Coaching Leader, Derek Moyers (34).
