Riding that momentum into postseason play, the Cadets opened Sectional 29 action with a commanding 58-0 win over Indianapolis Washington, advancing to the sectional semifinals for the third straight year. Cadets will travel to take on the Tri-West Bruins for part II of the series in the playoffs, after the 2024 game ending in heartbreaking fashion. Tri-West holds a 32-6 record over the Cadets with the most recent match up last year in the sectional semifinals, where the Bruins won a close battle 37-35 and ended the Cadets undefeated season. Cascade’s last victory over Tri-west came in 2006 where the Cadets opened the regular season with a 24-14 win over the Bruins. SETTING THE SCENE Friday Night Lights roll into Week 11 as the Cascade Cadets hit the road to face the Tri-West Bruins in the IHSAA Sectional Semifinals, a rematch of last year’s postseason battle. With a spot in the Sectional 29 Championship on the line, this matchup promises intensity, physicality, and playoff emotion from start to finish. Cascade enters the semifinal riding the momentum of an undefeated regular season, conference championship and a 58-0 shutout win over Indianapolis Washington in the opening round. The victory marked the Cadets’ third straight year advancing to the sectional semifinals. Tri-West brings a pro-style offense led by Louisville commit, Jack Sorgi, surrounded by multiple standout receivers who can stretch the field and make plays in space. Defensively, the Bruins feature a fast, athletic unit that thrives on speed, pressure, and physicality, a combination that will test Cascade’s balance and physicality. On the other side, Cascade’s high-tempo Wing Raid offense will look to dictate the pace, establish the run early, and create explosive play opportunities. The Cadets’ ability to win the line of scrimmage and maintain their trademark toughness has fueled back-to-back undefeated regular seasons and an 18-game regular-season winning streak. Defensively, Cadets have thrived on being the aggressor and setting the tone with their physical and athletic side of the game. With redemption on their minds and a sectional title berth up for grabs, the Cadets travel to Tri-West looking to make a statement in the 3A playoffs. CADET NOTES For the second straight year, Cascade finished off the regular season 9-0. Cascade opened up the regular season with two convincing wins over rivals, Monrovia and Danville, before rolling through the Monon Athletic Conference. Cadets have made it to the semifinals for the 5th time under Head Coach Connor Simmons. The last two seasons, the Cadets have lost in heartbreaking fashion and will look to get over the hump this year. Offensively, Cascade brings in one of the top scoring offenses in the state averaging 58.4 points per game and a stout defense giving up 8.6 points per game. Cascade is coming off of a 58-0 opening round playoff win. This is back to back seasons Cascade has met Tri-West on the road in the playoffs. OFFENSIVE STATISTICS 58.4 Points/Game 424.6 Total Yds/Game 258.7 Rush Yds/Game 165.9 Pass Yds/Game UNDER CENTER FOR THE CADETS Senior quarterback Brady Trebley is under center, commanding Cascade’s no-huddle Wing-T offense. During the regular season, he has been as efficient as the best of them in Indiana High School Football, Trebley has completed 92-121 for 1,486 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also has added 177 yards on the ground and 5 touchdowns. To open up sectional play, Trebley completed 6-8 for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. Behind him, sophomore Luke Austin and freshman Mason Minner will provide depth in the quarterback room for the future Cadets. Brady Trebley Ranks in Career Passing History: Passing Yards (Career): 3rd (4,276) Passing TDs (Career): 1st (64) Completions (Career): 3rd (250) Completion % (Career): 1st (66.3%) RUN DOMINANCE Cascade heads into semifinal play versus Tri-West with a three-headed rushing attack that can strike on any play. Last week against Indianapolis Washington, the Cadets’ backfield had a plethora of running backs carry the football for 250 rushing yards, averaging an impressive 8.3 yards per carry. Dayton Mink made the most of his touches, racking up 49 yards, while Toby Savini contributed 26 yards and two touchdowns. On the season, Mink leads the team with 577 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns, Savini adds in 542 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Farmer brings 442 yards and 9 touchdowns. The Cascade offense has rushing for 2,587 yards and 54 touchdowns this season. With multiple weapons capable of taking it the distance on any snap, Cascade’s backfield will be a key factor as the Cadets look to control the tempo and assert their run game on the speed of the Bruin Defense in a highly anticipated IHSAA Playoff Round Two matchup. Toby Savini & Dayton Mink Career Rushing Ranks: Rushing Yards: Savini 3rd (2,770) / Mink 5th (2,612) Rushing Touchdowns: Savini 3rd (34) / Mink 1st (41) Yards Per Rush: Savini 1st (9.72) / Mink 6th (6.90) Career Scoring: Savini 1st (306) / Mink 2nd (272) PASS CATCHERS Cascade’s wide receiver group is deep and experienced this season, led by seniors Marcus Hobson, JT Roshong, and Delton Howrey, with junior Cooper Lievens adding additional depth. This group brings big-play potential to the edge of Cascade’s otherwise run-heavy offense, providing balance and the ability to stretch the field, a key factor as the Cadets look to keep defenses from loading the box against their powerful rushing attack. Last week against Indianapolis Washington, the wide receiver group caught 4 passes for 65 yards and 2 touchdowns with SR Delton Howrey receiving all 4 receptions. SR Marcus Hobson leads the group with 586 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns. SR JT Roshong has hauled in 17 catches for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns. Marcus Hobson Season / Career Receiving Ranks: Seasons Receiving Touchdowns: Hobson 2nd (13) Career Receiving Touchdowns: Hobson 3rd (19) / Savini 6th (12) / Roshong 7th (11) PHYSICALITY & VERSATILITY ON THE EDGE Cascade’s tight end group will continue to play a vital role in both the run and pass game, but will have a different look Friday Night with SR Braxton Lewis on the sideline with an injury, SR Royce Bright, SR Delton Howrey, JR Trent Austin, and SO TJ Turner will have to step up, with both bringing significant varsity experience dating back to their freshman seasons. Last week, Lewis caught a 46 yard pass and Bright caught a 21 yard pass for 1 touchdown. As the Cadets prepare for their Week 11 game against Tri-West, look for this group to continue being a dominant presence in the run game while providing timely contributions through the air when needed. HOGS UP FRONT The Cadets’ offensive line has been a major driving force behind Cascade’s success early in the 2025 season, paving the way for an offense that is averaging 424.6 yards per game. In Week 10 versus Indianapolis Washington, this unit had a strong showing, helping the Cadets rack up 383 yards of offense. This year’s line features one senior, two juniors, and two sophomores, with only one returning starter from last season. Senior Brody Duncan provides leadership and stability up front, while juniors Wyatt Minardo and Dillon Setty hold down the tackle spots with toughness and consistency. Sophomore Eric Appleby starts at center, and sophomore Gunner White rounds out the group at left guard. Despite their youth, this line has quickly developed into a physical, cohesive unit, setting the tone for Cascade’s fast, run-heavy attack and giving their deep backfield room to thrive. Their continued growth will be key as the Cadets look to take it one week at a time in Sectional 29. This week they will be tested by a smaller, but fast and physical defensive front 7. DEFENSIVE STATISTICS 8.6 Points/Game Allowed 142 Total Yds/Game Allowed 54.2 Rush Yds/Game Allowed 87.8 Pass Yds/Game Allowed 24 Takeaways (12 INTs/12 Fumble Recovery’s) RUN GAME STOPPERS Cascade’s defensive front will look to set the tone this week on the defensive line vs Tri-West’s Pro Style offense. Senior Dominic Appleby, Senior Bentley McClellan and JR Jacob Healy will get the start this week. This group has dominated the run game with plugging holes and shutting down running backs all season long. This group is giving up just 54 yards per game on the ground and have allowed 1 rushing touchdown all season. The defensive line has been the tone setter for being a run stopping force all season long. With momentum building and weather temperature dropping, Cascade’s defensive line will look to be a dominant threat if the Cadets want to make a push into late November. Tri_west averaged 106 yards on the ground, but this group will be tested in the pass rushing department. HIT SQUAD Cascade’s most experienced defensive unit lines up at linebacker, where SR Toby Savini, SR Baynx Stirling, SR Delton Howrey, and SO TJ Turner, will look to continue their physical presence as a unit. SR Delton Howrey will get the nod at outside linebacker with SR Braxton Lewis being sidelined. SO TJ Turner will move inside for a shuffle of players due to the injury. This group brings a strong combination of leadership, toughness, and athleticism, making them a key component of Cascade’s defense. This group has been known for setting the physicality in games and doesn’t shy away from contact. This linebacker unit will be critical during the post season to slowing down teams. Friday Night, linebackers will be tested in the run game, but also with their pass drops against an offense that averages 275 passing yards per game. NO FLY ZONE Cascade’s secondary is led by seniors Marcus Hobson and JT Roshong, along with juniors Lucas Farmer and Michael Langley. Since letting up 226 yards through the air on big plays during the North Montgomery week 4 contest, No Fly Zone has been on a tear, giving up just 88 yards per game through the air this season. This group has forced quarterbacks to throw into tight coverage all season having 12 interceptions on the year, led by SR Marcus Hobsons’ 3 INTs. Playing with confidence, Cascade’s defensive backfield is ready to play a pivotal role as the Cadets enter sectional play and their biggest test to date against Louisville commit Jack Sorgi who has thrown for 29 passing touchdowns and 2600 yards and WR Carter Cummings who has 61 receptions for 928 yards and 9 touchdowns. Cadets have allowed just 8 passing touchdowns this year. KICKERS Junior Brogan Trump continues the kicking duties for the Cadets. Trump has been almost automatic for the PATs. For the season, Trump is 75-81 on the year, had a record breaking PAT game vs Greencastle converting 12 of 12 to break the PAT record in a single game (Previously held by Brogan Trump, 2025) and leads the state in all 6 classes for PATs made. Trump surpassed the Career PAT Record last week vs Indianapolis Washington with his 7 PATs made passing Max Stucky (69). Trump averages 47 yards on his kickoffs. SR Gabriel Glaze is another weapon that has come on strong in the kickoff department averaging 54.6 yards per kick with 13 touchbacks on the season. SCOUTING THE BRUINS Tri-West is led by 7th year Head Coach Jason Ward. He is 60-22 overall at Tri-West. Tri-West enters the game with a 7-3 record and a second place finish in the Hoosier Legends Conference. Last week, the Bruins defeated West Vigo 35-14 in the opening round of Sectional play. Jack Sorgi led the team at quarterback going 15-20 for 245 yards and 4 touchdowns with Carter Cummings hauling in 8 receptions for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sorgi leads this offensive unit that averages 379 yards per game to go along with 33.3 points per game. On the year Sorgi is 154-256 2,628 yards 29 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. JR Carter Cummings is his go-to target and has 61 receptions 949 yards with 9 touchdowns on the year. Bruins average 275 yards through the air. On defense, Bruins are led by JR Abe Haste with 90 tackles and JR Nicholas Bearman with 74 tackles. On the defensive line, Gabe Miller leads the team with 10 TFLs and 8.5 sacks. The lone returning defensive starter from last year's sectional championship team is JR Braxton Fleece who has tallied 63 tackles and 2 interceptions. This defensive unit gives up 296 yards per game and 20.7 points per game. 2025 Schedule Week 0: @ Linton Week 1: Monrovia W 48-6 Week 2: @ Danville W 41-25 Week 3: @ North Putnam W 42-6 Week 4: North Montgomery W 63-26 Week 5: @ Frankfort W 77-0 Week 6: Crawfordsville (Homecoming) W 55-3 Week 7: @ Greencastle W 98-13 Week 8: Southmont (Senior Night) W 46-0 Week 9: @ Western Boone W 56-7 Week 10: @ Indianapolis Washington W 58-0 Week 11: Sectional Semifinal Week 12: IHSAA Sectional Championship Week 13: IHSAA Regional Championship Week 14: IHSAA Semi-State Championship Week 15: IHSAA State Championship VARSITY COACHING STAFF HEAD COACH Connor Simmons 6th year at Cascade with an overall record of 38-26, 42-32 overall in 7 seasons. 2025: 10-0 2024: 10-1 (3A Sectional Semifinal) 2023: 6-5 (2A Sectional Semifinal) 2022: 6-5 (2A Sectional Semifinal) 2021: 3-7 2020: 3-8 (2A Sectional Semifinal) ASSISTANT COACHES Troy Edwards (DC - year 3) Matt Minardo (QB - year 6) Tony Appleby (DL - year 4) Cam Ginter (DL - year 2) Chris Appleby (OL - year 5) Don Rushton (ILB - year 3) Tim Horning (STC/RB - year 6) Connor Horning (STC/RB - year 4) Steve Phillips (WR - year 3) Kyle Krober (RB - year 1) STUDENT MANAGERS Addison Littrell, Haley Terhune, Evan Dixon MEDICAL STAFF Athletic Trainer: Meghan Clairday ADMINISTRATION Superintendent: Brian Tomamichel Assistant Superintendent: Kale Blickenstaff Principal: Jeff Hansel Assistant Principal: Julia Crone Athletic Director: Scott Stevens CASCADE SPORTS Follow CHS Athletics on Facebook (Cascade High School Athletics), Twitter (@Cadethletics), and online (cascadecadets.com) for more information on our sports and football program.
